According to Penney Pierce in The Intuitive Way, A Guide to Living from Inner Wisdom, “ By noticing things, you connect with your world."

By following the easy instruction to make a REM-gram™, participants mini-meditate to the right side of the brain, the master expert at "noticing things."

"Kristen is a creative genius," says Jan Phillips, visionary thought leader and author of several books, including the award-winning The Art of Original Thinking. "I highly recommend her." www.janphillips.com

"I opened up a creative side I didn't know I had. Therapeutic," commented Russ at the 2007 Burning River Fest, Cleveland.

Nikki, also at the Burning River Fest, wrote, "This exercise was unlike any other. I've never really thought of something so simple being so relaxing."
Dennis, stroke survivor and in a lot of pain from a broken neck, has been working with Kristen since 2003. He writes, "I get relief from the severe pain while doing art, my memory is slowly improving, and the depression and its dark cloud are lifting."

Kristen has been creating and selling paintings for 40 years, winning numerous awards in New York and Ohio. She has 25 years' experience as an art teacher, and has created the REM-gram™ process for people to mini-meditate their way to the right side of the brain. Ms. Boyesen exhibits her artwork in the Galleria, Cleveland, at A.R.T. Showcase; in The Gallery, Willoughby, OH; and with two galleries in Northern New York.

Kristen S. Boyesen is an artist who has developed the REM-gram™ (Recorded Eye Movement) program to help people get in touch with their creativity. She is not a member of the medical community. All thoughts shared are from life experiences and are for the purpose of helping others to create the ambiance, attitude, and exercise regimens for healing-from-within to occur. Any adverse side effects should immediately be directed to a medical doctor or a mental health care professional.

Imagination Arts Workshops. What are they?

Imagination Arts interactive programs use games of observation to access the right side of the brain. Drawings are created without looking at the paper. The activity of drawing, using proven learn-to-draw techniques, allows the left side of the brain rest and paves the way for the right side of the brain to use its many talents. Right-brain activity is associated with inner peace, intuitive thinking and bonding.

  • All artists know the peace and contentment that they experience while creating art.
  • Imagination Arts games and activities, set to music, allow the non-artist to experience the same beneficial effects of such right-brain activity, without the pressure of creating an artwork.

  • A seismograph records the process of earth movement.
  • Imagination Arts transfers eye movement to muscle movement.

  • A puddle of water is the result of the process of melting an ice cube. The shape of the puddle is inconsequential.
  • Imagination Arts exercises create a process for activating the right side of the brain. The lines drawn on paper are inconsequential.

  • "Aha" moments are the result of the right side of the brain figuring things out when you least expect it.
  • Imagination Arts can help trigger "aha" moments without having to wait for chance to allow it to happen.

  • Thinking outside of the box involves expanding one's thoughts beyond the familiar.
  • Imagination Arts activates the process for out-of-the-box thinking.

  • Magicians have certain tricks of the trade that are seldom revealed to the public.
  • Imagination Arts reveals the tricks used by artists to create art, and presents them as a way to relax, activate intuition, and create group bonding.

Expanding Ever Outward

The planning for Shadybrook's April retreat is progressing, and an interesting variety of mini workshops will be presented, including Imagination Arts.

Conversations with people I have recently met in the business and healthcare arenas have increased my excitement (if that is possible) about presenting this program in all areas: corporate, wellness, education, rehabilitation and entertainment. Their reactions to the concept and purpose of Imagination Arts are all positive.

Imagination Arts Games!

I have just sent in a proposal describing a mini-workshop for the Spring Retreat to be held by Shadybrook May 4-6, 2007 at St. Joseph Christian Life Center, Euclid, OH. This is the second year of providing a means for the many talents of Shadybrook members to be shared with other members and the public at large. Last year's program included Reiki, Chi Gong, Vipassana meditation, Movement Therapy, massage, musical entertainment, yoga, and explorative art ... all presented by various members of Shadybrook. Here is the description of what I propose for this year's retreat. The theme is Healing Head, Heart, and Community.

"Lighten up" ..."Stop and Smell the Roses" ... "Chill"

These are all sayings telling us we are too serious about life and are missing the good stuff.

Imagination Arts :Games! presents a series of just-for-fun exercises that utilize proven art instruction techniques ... not for the serious business of making art, but for the fun of having a new experience. The program is actually entertainment with audience participation and the audience is the star attraction.  Program presenter Kristen Boyesen orchestrates the event with music, commentary, fast-paced 'scene changes', and lots of energetic encouragement.

Ten interactive drawing games are presented one after the other.  Each has its own color, pace, flavor, and tricks.  The tricks create the fun.  No one knows what to expect, but whatever it is, everyone is in it together, so must "go with the flow".

The program awakens and utilizes the drawing skills of the right side of the brain.  Everyone has these skills, but many are dissuaded from drawing-for-real because "fear of failure" emanates from the self-critical left side of the brain.  These games are not for drawing-for-real. The left side of the brain must take a break while all of this is going on, as it is not in its job description!

Imagination Arts :Games! creates group synergy, relieves stress, and promotes inner peace ... all good ways for Healing Head, Heart, and Community.
