Free Creative Expressions Samplers:

Remember what it was like to be innocent, free from fear, and curious about the world?

When you used paint to make marks, splashes, and drips on paper just to see what would happen? (Visual & kenetic experimentation).

When word games were explorations into the world of giggles? (Fearless verbal exploration.)

When you could bang on a pot with a wooden spoon to see what sounds you could make? (Creative rhythm & sound.)

Experience that joy of life again in a Free Creative Expressions Sampler.

Creativity is an essential component of being human whether you describe yourself as “artistic” or regularly affirm that you are a “just the facts” kind of person. The samplers are a taste of Creative Expressions I, where there are opportunities to:

Utilize a variety of personal expressive techniques,

Practice exercises based on psychology and science,

Acquire tools for creatively coping with life’s glitches,

Awaken, expand, and deepen your creativity,

Discover and enjoy your authentic self,

Experience new ways of communicating (visually, verbally, & rhythmically),

Develop your personal pathways to inner peace,

And exercise your brain.

Since 2005, this ever-evolving program has been presented in a variety of venues for people in many stages of life. Participants report acquiring new ways of seeing the world, self, and relationships; an ever-growing ability to make authentic behavioral choices; and to live with joy in daily life.

All participants at Samplers and Workshops receive a landscape art print by Kristen Boyesen.

Free Sampler Workshops are in need of hosting locations. If you can provide space for 4 to 15 people at your home or facility for a 2-hour Creative Expressions Sampler, please contact Kristen at (two one six)-577-9874. Samplers are available for adults only or for families (one participating adult is required for each child). Your choice!

Hosts receive a $10 workshop credit for each guest at their Sampler who registers for a Creative Expressions workshop with a $20 down payment. Kristen is scheduling now for Samplers to begin on Monday June 6.

Sampler participants who sign up for a Creative Expressions I workshop with a $20 deposit while at a Sampler receive $10 off the $70 workshop fee. The Sampler is free, and there is no obligation to sign up for a workshop. One free Sampler per person, please, though hosts may host as many times as they wish.

All Samplers must have a minimum of 4 participants (or 4 parent/child duos). The maximum, 10 to 20, depends on the venue. Do you have a large back yard (and alternate rain-space)?

After locations and dates are set, guests may sign up with Kristen, through Meetup or with the host.

PRIVATE ROOM: $425

IF REGISTERING (with $200 deposit) AFTER OCT.1, 2009:
SHARED ROOM: $425
PRIVATE ROOM: $475

We will have ALL NEW workshops next year, with some familiar workshop leaders and a couple new ones.
One workshop description has been finalized:

"DRAWING FROM NATURE"

Whether you are “unable to draw stick figures” or a seasoned artist, you will delight in the freedom of this class led by Kristen Boyesen. The emphasis will be on the movement, shapes, observations, and curvy lines found in nature. Finished drawings are not the object of the class, but observation and immersion in the joy and the beauty of nature. Let go of your notions about whether or not you can draw, or that you are a “good” or “bad” artist. All such self-imposed structures and labels dampen creativity!

Delve into the moment. Abandon the everyday world of lists and duties to the sublime world of shape, light & dark, and the glorious variety of the natural world. You will be pleased and surprised at the results … within … and on your paper. Bring your own supplies or use those provided for $3.00. (Keep your drawings, return the drawing instruments.)

Workshop Opportunity for Cleveland Area Schools

Spring is in the air!

Provide students with an innovative tool to:
• Focus
• Activate Imagination
• Calm Spring Fever
• Ignite Creativity

All age groups benefit, including teachers!

The Imagination Arts program uses a motivational talk & slide show, instruction, and a beginning drawing exercise to teach students to let go of circular thinking and enable concentration. Doing the exercises is calming before tests and opens the brain to contemplative thought for creative writing and problem solving.

The program can be matched to the hosting class, whether it is English, math, art, or social studies. Each teacher requesting the class may give an overview of what is being taught and how innovation and creative thinking would help excite the students to the current topic.

One room for the program should be provided for all day presentations to ease set-up time. With time between classes, the program is mobile. Tables or writing surfaces are required. Pens and clipboards are provided. The school should provide two reams of copy paper per day for supplies.

The cost for this all-day opportunity for your students is $200.

Kristen Boyesen has 20 years experience as an art instructor for workshops and private lessons, as college adjunct for drawing classes, a public speaker-demonstrator for groups and organizations, and motivational speaker at wellness facilities.

Drawing Day, Cleveland. Non-artists can participate!

Imagination Arts will be at the June Art Show sponsored by Artists Review Today with a drawing station for those who would like to participate in the world wide coming together to post one million drawings on the internet on June 7.

The Imagination Arts station is for everyone ages 5 to 105, whether or not you have any drawing ability. In fact, it is easier to do the drawing exercise if you do NOT have drawing ability!

The link above is for a podcast I recorded last night with Mark Quinn. Download it to your iPod or listen at your computer to hear our discussion on Drawing Day, stress relief, the brain, and using meditation to change a bad mood to a good mood.

We really are in charge of how we live our lives. Click the link to hear more!

Come to the Galleria on Saturday, June 7, to make a drawing (or to record your eye movement without looking at the paper) to be uploaded to the internet. Do several drawings, choose your favorite. New experiences create new brain cells. 10 AM to 3 PM.

Join us for this exciting event, and cast your vote for your favorite artwork at the June Art Show 2008.
